Tea Tree oil
Tea-tree oil can also be used for everyday hygiene in soap and in the bath. New mums find baths of tea tree and lavender particularly effective in dealing with pain.
Regular use of preparations containing the oil protects against skin infections.

Anti-bacterial
Tea-tree oil is known to be effective against 24 species of bacteria, including some antibiotic-resistant ones like MRSA.
|
Laboratory testing has shown tea-tree oil to be rapidly effective in killing MRSA. In two clinical trials, tea-tree oil preparations safely and effectively eradicated MRSA on the skin and in wounds and ulcers.
|
|
Tea-tree oil is also effective against Propionibacterium acnes and the non-lethal type of Staphylococcus aureus, which are both associated with acne.
Anti-fungal
Tea-tree oil is known to be effective against 16 species of fungi including Candida and Trycophyton species.

Anti-viral
Viruses can cause skin problems, such as warts which can be treated with tea tree though I favour Lemon oil. Tea-tree oil is effective against the herpes simplex virus, which causes cold sores.

|
Anti-inflammatory
One of the reasons that tea-tree oil is so effective in skin conditions is that, in addition to its anti-microbial action, it reduces inflammation..
